I have a much more reliable E46 BMW that I'd sell you for that price.

*cough cough* *shameless plug*

That's extreme, I'm not that rich and mine runs.

It's a decent price, but def have some ability with a wrench or at least 2k on hand for services. Parts aren't any worse than the Subaru I own but the labor will cost ya. If all that work he claims has really been done he saved you about $2500 in maintenance.

Well yea, very extreme. I just hate seeing people get into such cars and then going miserable over the upkeep.

Yep, for sure. Op check out the FAQs on http://www.audizine.com/forum/forumdis… to get an idea of what you'd be getting into. These cars require very strict maintenance and can nickle ya to death, but when they are sorted and running strong they are a fucking blast. Def a sleeper to the unknowing, more so in avant trim

4.2 has it's own issues, ever priced out the timing chain service on that bad boy? Literally pushing 3k for parts, plus just a chip and exhaust on the B5 and those 4.2s are left in the dust, even more at altitude.

I don't think I would ever buy a German car out of warranty. Yeah I've read the B5 are more susceptible to tuning but still...V8.

Why does someone sell a car 2 weeks after a major service? What did they find during the service that's scaring the owner to the point of selling it?

But, bi-turbo. Really the only power mods for the V8 are an exhaust and a supercharger. The SC costs upwards of 15k and will still get smoked by a stage 3 B5.

B5>B8>B7>B6

It's likely he was tired of paying out the ass for the services but needed to have some done in order to justify his asking price. All in all it was probably a wash, do the services and make it more appealing to potential buyers or don't and ask $3k less.

Sorry but your owner bias is showing. Surely, you've heard the 4.2! I guess you could say as the number of turbos go up, my interest in the car goes down. I feel very few people buy an Audi to modify it anyway; my future B6/7 S4 will be responsible for making very fast, short commutes.

I didn't say they don't sound great, they do, they're just slow at 5280' and above. Strangely enough, the B5 is actually more reliable with upgraded RS4 turbos than on the stock k03s so there are plenty of folks who are going to and have purchased them to be modified. Even some original owners

Friend of mine bought a used one of these as his first "nice car" when he got a job after College. It nearly bankrupted him. I still see them around on Kijiji (Canada's CL)and Autotrader, and I think, man, that was a fun car when it ran....

I'm a V8 guy, and I still have to side with the 2.7T. The only, and I mean only, thing that the 4.2 has over it is the sound. And, as I like to live by my own rules of form over function, there's no reason to choose a 4.2. Plus, the B5 A4 just... does it right for me.

Personally I have a N/A V8 at 1000' here, just for reference.

I already have a turbo car. The sound of owning another is outright boring! Give me that sweet rumble!
